With spring comes the end of another school year, and this year is especially busy & exciting as it marks the end of my daughter's elementary school years. She is graduating from the school she's attended for the past 5 years, where she's made her mark and made me proud, where she's been the proverbial big fish in the little pond. She's starting highschool in September and Oh. My. God. I can't believe I got her this far in one piece. One wonderful, healthy, intelligent, talented, beautiful piece!
It's a crazy-exciting time with seeking out the perfect grad dress, and of course hours and hours of trying on shoes with heels, straps, and just the right amount of bling.....picking and choosing and drawing straws between my awesome supportive friends so as not to exceed the maximum allowed guests I can bring to see my hatchling on that stage in her cap & gown recieving her diploma....and, and, track & field competitions that my hatchling is kicking ass at with her healthy athletic body & me walking all the way to the meet with a cooler of cut-up-perfectly-into-bite-sized pieces of yummy fresh fruit and veggies and her chihuahua to wish her good luck, only to find out I've forgotten my camera....and the sweet sounds of many renditions of her favourite songs in her somewhat Carly Simon-like voice and guitar strumming coming from her room in preparation for the school's upcoming talent show....and her classroom's recent "poetry reading" for which my hatchling decorated the class room as a coffee house/cafe and rolled her eyes when I had all the parents snapping their fingers instead of applauding after each kid's reading.....and coming up with the remainder of the almost $500 that will cover the cost of my hatchling's end-of-the-school-year week-long class trip, all the while being positive and excited with her and not letting on how much I will miss her and worry that she will be away from me for a whole week.
*taking today off to just b~r~e~a~t~h~e....
peace

Congrats to you both on this milestone!
How exciting my dear! I know how crazy the end of the school year always is! But having a graduation is even more exciting and unforgettable.
You girls enjoy this very special moment in your life and congratulations for her achievements and yours, of course! Thanks to you, she is who she is.
Best wishes!
Oh, Gabby, this is such a landmark in her life, and in yours!! You do such a wonderful job raising your hatchling so well, and it's so rare and precious to be able to watch her becoming this awesome young lady she is. Be proud indeed, be very proud of yourself, of her. The bond that links you both are one of the strongest I've ever seen, and I simply adore reading about it. I can feel she'll always be okay thanks to you who gave her the support and guidance she needed to walk on her own feet with grace and certainty.
Kisses and love from me and Lucas.
It must be crazy all this preparation for her graduation! For girls are harder than for boys, all the dresses, shoes, makeups to choose!!
Congrats for you both!!
this is why you got her this far in one great piece...because you love her so and it shows...
