BIG THANKS to all my friends for your comments, emails, phone calls & continued support in my (so far UNDEFEATED) quest for truth, justice and my rights as a renter with a certain scumbag of a slumlord.
Yesterday's hearing was more like a Jerry Springer show...with the slumlord DYING to bring up issues he has with other tenants who have trashed his property, etc. and have NOTHING to do with me & my case against him. I was so frustrated and pissed off, like I have nothing better to do than sit in a hearing room all day and watch the slumlord play "Law & Order"...it was a complete joke. Several times my lawyer had to tell me to "hush-up" and by the end of the day it was more like "sshhh...Shut up"!! We were both dying to get out of there and away from the ridiculous drama.
I am winning the race, but still more to go and the slumlord is getting much more creative in his lies. But I am holding strong to my morals, principles and yet another example of right and wrong that I am setting for my hatchling.
My journey as a single mother is one of mothering, caregiving, teaching, guidance, support and LOVE. I've worked hard at giving her the solid foundation and emotional stability to make it in this world. In everything, I always look for the lesson to teach her. I am not about to let her grow up thinking that she should tolerate other people's abuse and THEIR problems. No way.
And so far, the strength and determination that being a single mother has brought to my character, is clearly evident in my daughter. She is one kick-ass 13 year old and I'm so, so, so proud of her! And even from this laughable circus of dealing with a very unstable former landlord, she is learning, just as she has learned positive things from all the decent landlords we've had and all the wonderful places we've lived prior to this one bad apple.
Now...on to the fun and normal parts of our life together...
My hatchling & her bff's wanted to do something within their school for the people of Haiti. They found an organization that will match dollar for dollar what a school can earn.
One of her brilliant ideas? A bake sale at the school. So all this week, she's had her friends over in the evenings to bake, bake, BAKE!!!

It feels great when you make a conscious choice to put your energy into the good things in this life.
I absolutely adore being a mom.
Did I mention how PROUD I am of her?

WHAT FUN with your hatchling!!! everything looks SO YUMMY and my belly is hungry for supper right now........ but maybe it would be fun to bake tonight instead of yoga class hah!
Glad to hear things are going well for you. At the end of the day, after that kind of drama, just try to take some deep breaths and name the goodness and gratitude.
It rocks that things are going so well for you at court. Kick some slumlord butt!
