A Website devoted to mocking Walmart

Have any of you seen this site?

http://peopleofwalmart.com

It's completely dedicated to making fun of Walmart and the people who shop there.
Here's more of an explanation....

http://www.cnn.com/2009/TECH/09/03/walmart.people/index.html

I have nothing much good to say about Walmart, as practically all their merchandise is made in China. But this site might be going a bit too far, definitely offensive to people shopping, people who got their pics taken simply to make fun of - period.

What do you think?

Oh, you did that on purpose! You suckered me in, leaving me to go through each post more baffled with each picture - there is an old man with a beard and breast implants! ABSOLUTELY BIZARRE!

Alright, now let me clear my head and be a hypocrite because I laughed out loud at some, but was saddened by the people whose faces you could see, and who didn't know they were being photographed.

In other words... I don't know...

love to you,
(((hugs))),
me

I'm not comfortable with it at all. A website that makes fun of people just doesn't sit right with me so I resisted the urge to check out the link. It's kinda scary that these people were being photographed without even being aware of it but I guess it's happening in more situations than we know.

I won't go look at that. Making fun of people is just mean. have your issues with Wal-Mart but don't go posting people's pics without their permission. That' starts down a slippery slope of invading privacy.

I think it's very wicked to make fun of anyone. They should be ashamed of themselves.

Well, I have to say I don't know how I feel about this site...on one hand SOOO not cool to make fun...on the other hand, did you really get dressed in THAT, look in the mirror and think, "Yeah, this looks good!"????

I do like the pic with the sign on the baby's car seat that said "Please don't touch the baby!"...I'm thinking I might actually get one of them there signs!!! Random people I don't know touch Marryn ALL. THE TIME. Drives me up a wall!!! I don't know you or where your hands have been, please don't touch my 3 month old daughter!!!

I think that site is just cruel. Vicious humor like that is not funny to me.

It late for me and I haven't had time to look at the site.
With today technology who knows when, who or how something of us is posted for the world to see.

Coffee is on.

Thank goodness someone finally said that! I've had tons of friends post this (especially on facebook) and I bit my tongue and just ignored it.

I did not think this site was funny. I don't think running around taking pictures of people just to post them on the web and ridicule them is funny.

I for one, would be CRUSHED to find my photo on the internet somewhere like this. Think of how these people must feel, and how people in their families, jobs, and their children's schools could be treating them right now over seeing them.

It's just repulsive to me. Not one person on earth goes through life without a clothing mishap, a case of bad taste or a bad hair day. None of us are perfect.

Thank you for posting this.

i smell major law suit here, if someone in any of those photos want, can and may as already did press charges, its illegal to post or take any pics of anyone wih out there consent. and for that site to pick on them just adds more to the fire. some people have a budget and have no choices but to shopp for the things that or in there budget, even is it means not the best quality or supporting the US jobs. and im for one is kinda guilty for buying somethings in walmart, but hey i can afford it. No one deserves to be ridiculed in such a manor.

I live in a small town, WALMART is all we have.. I am always blown away with the people..I am a great people watcher,,i dont take photos , but I sure do get entertained.. its free, doesnt hurt to look.. obviously its okay with the people who dress so interestingly..or they wouldnt be there.. I look at it with a sense of humour.. not making a judgement.. I dont condemn, pity,or feel any disdain..i am just amused.. I love to people watch, I like to go to Burbon Street in NEw orleans and just sit on a curb and soak it all in..
legally? not nice to photo people without their permussion to post in a public forum. as artists I think we all have to admit we ae voyeurs..right?

It's mean to make fun of/ridicule others.

I would consider looking down your nose at people who shop at Walmart ridiculing. (Not saying anyone is doing just saying if judging people's clothing isn't ok then in theory wouldn't judging shopping choices also be not ok?)

No one is perfect.

However, just because you are Mom doesn't mean you can't or shouldn't take care of yourself. You're a person too!

If just one mom learns that from PoW that makes me smile on the inside. (I used to work there and see a lot of run down moms who looked like they needed just 5 minutes.)

How have these dudes escaped a lawsuit so far?

I love the do not touch signs. I've never understood why you would touch someone else's baby without asking. Resist the cuteness and use your words/manners.

As a Walmart former employee/shopper, I'm pained by some of the outfits. Christ Almighty between the drive there and getting dressed at home you HAD to have passed a mirror at some point.
