my herbs & Impatiens hanging on for dear life waiting for me to have time to transplant them

Our Joy Rebel mission this week is to "Have Fun" I can get into that Brandi!
The fun started yesterday when myself and this guy went to this friend's baby shower. Where there was a CHOCOLATE FOUNTAIN!!! Need I say more? Let me tell you, the fun began right there with heaping platters of fresh strawberries, pineapple & banana chunks all to hold under the melting, warm dripping chocolate...omg, I think I spent half the day at that fountain!
It was a great shower and I never saw so much "pink stuff" in all my life. (yes it's a girl!!!) She's due one month from today and everyone is oh-so-excited!
Afterwards, we came to my teeny boho apartment/cottage where this guy laughed himself into hysterics while observing my garden-in-progress. He saw my sad little tomato plants (I have 2)...and that was it...he was gone over the edge, crossed over to that place where laughter becomes tears and you can't stand up without peeing yourself!
He named it "The Charlie Brown Garden", among other things, implying that it is a place where fairies and garden gnomes come to die... too funny! The kind of thing only a good friend can get away with saying.
He makes a good point though...here's a visual for you all.

Alas...it's still in the early stages. I only have half of it dug up (by hand- quite a work-out!) so I've only planted a bit of veggies & seeds so far. I'm just hoping the soil doesn't know it's past the May 24th planting deadline.
Fun? Absolutely! Even my zen garden had to be trimmed down to half the size I was planning because I decided that buying stones from the garden center is sort of oxymoron...so I only got a couple small bags. Me & this guy are gonna do it "old school" and go down to the beach with pails and fill them up with stones!
Pics of that to come soon!
* Now go check out his blog to read more of his critique of my garden!
peace, fun, & friends

awww you are getting there! it wont happen overnight and just think of the harvest :)
HAHAHA Excellent! LOVE the labels on the picture, now we readers aren't left wondering what the hell that blue mass is behind the garden, we know its the neighbors old garbage pool. hahaha The weather is nice today, so I expect for you to get some ground dug up, I will be there tonight, with my white inspection gloves, and grading card... Put a pot a of tea on! ;) LOL
LOVE IT!
tee hee ... love the labels!!
i think you are off to a fine start :-) i'm in my third year with my garden and its starting to look really good but when i remember that first year, ho boy!! and i know that five years from now, i'll look back and laugh at the shape of things in my yard this year. that's the beauty of it all, its an ever evolving bringer of beauty and a whole lot of sweat and back breaking ;-)
xoxox
hey it's a work in progress dang it!!!
OMG...I wish I could come hang out with you and Bret and make an outrageously kick ass vegetable garden. I think the garden looks like an awesome plot and I'm sure it will grow to be full in no time at all!
I'm sure your garden is going to be amazing once you're done planting it! That is pretty funny, though. xD
go YOU! a vegie garden woohoo!! we all need to do this for the coming times & for Mother Earth...
if ya need any help with companion planting/organic ways etc, email me.. I have lots of info gathered over the years..
and I gather stones like that too.. sometimes the ones you buy can actually be manmade.. ha! or mined somewhere and somehow that rapes & pillages Earth.. cannot wait to see how this evolves.
Gardening is a joyful event and loving every moment one hand is in the good earth.
I see your growing yellow beans. I got them also in my garden.
Coffee is on.
Well... my plans for a veggie garden - or even a row of radishes and lettuce - have remained simply in the realms of ideas, so I am mightily impressed that you have done some digging, sown some seeds, planted those tomatoes. And 2 plants will yield plenty of beautiful red juiciness. Enjoy your garden, and thanks for showing us around!
I can already see a splendid garden coming :)
NO tomatoes for This Guy! :)
LOL hon - fairies and gnomes make great fertilizer (yikes did I say that??) Love the Charlie Brown Garden!! Hope you have a wonderful week hon, Sarah
Well, I for one, can see great potential in your little garden, boho mom. Dig on! Having fun. lol Blessings.
How fun!! & love Brett's 'critique' lol!!
Mine is 'in stages,' too! I added 2 beds this year - last year covered those areas with cardboard & b & w newspaper & some old sheets, then my son-in law would pile dirt from his various 'digging' projects on the cardboard, & this year it was pretty easy to pull the weeds & begin planting.
Do you have a compost heap? I have one of those bins (came with the house) & throw kitchen scraps, leaves, grass clippings etc in - wish I had a several 'bin' system!
Yea for beginning ;)
I LOVE your garden- I love how natural and wild it looks. but it IS funny about his analysis :)
I also look at stones at the store and think- that's ridiculous, I am NOT paying money for rocks. actually- I think I say that outloud and Andrew shushes me lol.
Going to the beach is a fantastical idea- can't wait to see how it progresses
ps- LOVE the bonfire pit!! mmmm SMORES.
by the way, not sure what the laws are over your way but here in the UK it's illegal to remove stones from the beach in quantities - for very good reasons, not just to be party poopers(they're a water break, if the beach was broken up a lot of us would be in distinct danger of being washed away)
(((mamacrow)))
I hear what you're saying, but could never, and would never take enough rocks to disturb the beach's flow and breaking, etc.
Thanks for your comment.
