Thanks to everyone for all your reassuring comments that resolutions are "for the birds" as Genie Sea said.
And squishie hugs go out to the fabulous Brandi for introducing me to this blog.
I did not know about this project and it is so awesome! You pick ONE WORD to "be" and "let your word guide you to take action throughout the year".
My word is EMPOWER. I want to accomplish a lot in 2009, and rather than writing out a long list of things I must do, I will put them all under the umbrella of being EMPOWERED.
It's true...we tend to fail at resolutions of the "must do" category.
I will start at the "be" level, and all these accomplishments will follow suit.

LOVE the sock monkey. No really, I am CRAZY about it! LOL.
Empower! What a perfect word for the year. I like this, this idea of a theme over a resolution. Much more my style. I know that empowerment for you this year is going to be getting that car you want.
Me? I want my word to be "success". Not sure what that means yet! But I'm working on it.
I think it will take it places you never thought you'd go.
in a good way. :-)
and I freaking love that pic! Year of the sock monkey indeed!!!
Dear G, I chose a word too because I second your opinion about resolutions, they just don't work for me. See my post about "tenacity", it was a powerful experience and duh, I can't deniy it now!
EMPOWER rocks....
Lil xo
Empower... I like that word. If we all empowered our lives and to do lists I think we'd accomplish a lot!
My word for the year is love. Maybe I'll post more on this later. It's a great idea!
Great word for the year - may you be Empowered to really own it!!
My word is PRESENCE - have a post on it over at the Creation Station . . . yesterday I got a pocket astrologer & put the moon cycles on my lovely calendar from LEAH - like knowing when the moon is full or new . . .
i love it! i love YOU! and i love the sock monkey!!!
*hugs sock monkey*
and your word is so totally perfect. it just fits you like no other word that i'd be able to think of. well, except maybe for "rockin'" but, that's just me. =)
maybe my word'll be "ME!" work on being as true to me as i can, and not worry about trying to make fucktards happy. just channel Delena of the Funkywild, nonstop.
oh yeah...
Excellent choice! Leaves so much possible.
Tagged you btw, over 'ere.
fantastic!
my touchword for the year?
...Release!
oh yes!
It's interesting you should choose that word! I have been feeling a stronger sense of empowerment throughout your posts since the first time I came to your blog in November. I have been witnessing your strength of will and intent growing each day. And it is a marvelous sight to behold!
Great word! I choose 2 words this year...deserve and believe! Wishing you lots of empowerment this year!
Enpowered, I love that word and one that a lot of women need to learn. It's okay to be enpowered and it's great that the resolutions are out the window and we are actually living rather than living to the expectations of others.
Happy new year and may it be blessed with happiness and love!
It's like have an awesomely written thesis statement--solid and to the point! Concise. Practical. Beautiful. L.O.V.E. it!
Many Blissings!~*

Oh, sock monkey's are so cute! And 'empower' is a great kick ass word for this year...:)
xo
I smiled as soon as I got here. What a great picture, a great word, a great monkey! Empower. Wow. 2009 is going to rock.
Empower. So perfect.
While usually I do not subscribe to resolutions, the second half of the year just left me drained to a point where I felt unrecognizable to myself. I created more of a "To Do" list than a rambling of resolutions. At the top of the list is to reconnect with my tribe and myself.
This year I need two words: PERSEVERE and RECONNECT.
May this year be truly empowering for you.
P.S. The sock monkey gave me warm fuzzy feelings- I can still picture my brother when he was a toddler carrying around his beloved monkey.
Great word! I chose "maybe" after reading a SARK poster. I just had this terrible thought. I did this last year and I have no idea what my word was. hmmmmmm. I wonder if I can find it on Christine's comments? This is not good, is it? The worst thing is, I think the word might have been "focus." LMAO
tee hee ... sock monkey's totally rock!!
empower is a fabulous word, it is so your word this year, uh huh. xo
